Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-22

Your agreement

By creating an account or signing in, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Aurum. The terms here apply to every part of the service — the web app, the iOS app, the API, and anything we add later.

Acceptable use

Aurum is a personal finance app for a single user (you). Use it for your own finances. Don't:

  • Connect bank accounts you don't own or aren't authorized to access.
  • Resell, sublicense, or expose the service to third parties.
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or probe the service for vulnerabilities outside of a responsible-disclosure process.
  • Upload content that violates someone else's rights or any applicable law.
  • Use the AI coach to generate content that violates Anthropic's usage policy.

Misuse can result in account suspension or termination without notice.

Your content

Everything you upload or import — transactions, notes, goals, principles, chat messages — is yours. We process it to provide the service (see Privacy Policy). We don't claim ownership, and we don't train any model on your data.

Third-party services

Aurum relies on Plaid for bank-account aggregation, Clerk for identity, Anthropic for the AI coach, and Vercel + Neon for hosting. Each operates under its own terms; using Aurum means accepting that those providers process the relevant data on our behalf. The Privacy Policy lists what flows where. If a provider has an outage, the relevant Aurum feature may be temporarily unavailable.

No financial advice

Aurum is software, not a financial advisor, broker, or fiduciary. Budgets, insights, projections, and AI coach output are informational only. They are not a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or otherwise transact in any security, currency, or other asset. Verify anything important against your own bank, brokerage, or tax professional before acting on it.

Disclaimer of warranties

Aurum is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We make reasonable efforts to keep the service running, accurate, and secure, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Bank data is only as accurate as what Plaid returns; CSV imports are only as accurate as what you upload.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aurum and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, missed opportunities, or reputational harm — arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Total cumulative liability for any direct claim is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid for Aurum in the twelve months before the claim or (b) USD $100.

Account termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy & Security → Danger zone. Deletion follows the 30-day soft-delete window described in the Privacy Policy; after the window closes, the data is gone.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if doing so is necessary to protect other users or the service. Where practical we'll explain why.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. The “Last updated” date above changes when we do. Material changes will be flagged in-app before they take effect. Continued use of Aurum after a change means you accept the new terms.
